Study With Adam Guitar Legend – Benjamin Simar

By Adam Rafferty 2 Comments

In the world of music, where every note counts and every rhythm speaks a story, Benjamin Simar from Belgium is making waves. With a guitar journey spanning over 30 years, Benjamin’s story is one of passion, persistence, and the pursuit of groove.

I got a chance to talk with Benjamin about his music, and we had a great time making this video.

Benjamin joined Study with Adam (SWA) on February 1, 2023, and it’s been a game-changer for him. He loves SWA for its unique approach to teaching guitar. According to him, Adam Rafferty focuses on the little things that significantly improve playing. From techniques to grooves, Benjamin found that SWA’s lessons are versatile, fitting into various styles seamlessly. The best part? He finds immense value in SWA’s offerings, which he considers top-notch for the price.

Currently, Benjamin is pouring his heart into two main projects: crafting his fingerpicking album and rocking the electric guitar in a tribute band. When it comes to his instruments, he strums a Lag TRAMONTANE Hyvibe for that acoustic magic and switches to a Stratocaster for electrifying performances.

Benjamin’s musical taste is eclectic, with a strong leaning towards funk and fusion. He draws inspiration from local Belgian star Jacques Stotzem, as well as global icons like Tommy Emmanuel and Don Ross. And while he jests about not being able to list Adam Rafferty among his favorites since he’s part of the SWA family, it’s clear that Adam holds a special place in his musical journey.

For a sneak peek into Benjamin’s talent, check out these videos of him playing:

  • GinE

What sets Benjamin apart is his innovative technique. He wields a plectrum between his thumb and forefinger while his other fingers dance on the strings, creating a harmony that’s distinctly his.

Benjamin’s journey with SWA is a testament to the power of dedication and the right guidance. He’s not just playing music; he’s living it, one strum at a time. And as he continues to grow and share his melodies, Benjamin Simar stands as a beacon of inspiration for aspiring guitarists everywhere. With SWA by his side, the possibilities are endless, and the journey is just as beautiful as the tunes he plays.
