Adam, We are in the European Union, there are no restrictions on the movement of people or work. I found your question amusing as we are about to throw all of that away

John – man, you are right of course.

When I played at Ullapool I got held up at Heathrow with all kinds of questions and requests for work papers – which I did not have. I barely got through and made it to the gig.

Another very well known fingerstyle player (also non-European) was actually put in a holding cell there at the airport for the same reasons….that’s why I asked Soenke about his experience.

Ha, I get the same grilling when I visit the US, customs make you feel like you are a drug trafficker, maybe its the guitar case that is a red light to them.

Ullapool is on my wishlist, I have no excuses. I could be there in 8 hours or less. If I had known you were there I may have made the effort. However, I guess I would have been disappointed with you leaving early. Maybe next year.

Interesting that you mentioned Woody Mann in one of your blogs, I met Woody in 1998 at the Wirral guitar festival and went to two IGS meetings in Columbia University 1999 and 2000.

I hope to catch up with Woody in the UK next year in Buxton.

Thank you for being a continuing source of inspiration.

    J
