Additional Training for “Superstition” by Stevie Wonder – Fingerstyle Guitar

What are These Videos? These are guitar lesson videos. Enjoy!

Many students and fans often ask why I play certain guitar arrangements differently in concert than the way I teach them on my Instructional DVDs.

It’s because they have developed and evolved – and still do!

These “support” videos will keep you up to date on changes & insights to these fingerstyle guitar arrangements.

In this video: Here are NEW insights and updates to the “SUPERSTITION” arrangement in the DVD How to Play the Music of Stevie Wonder for Fingerstyle Guitar (Vol I)

God Bless, and please enjoy the music! Please leave a comment below, and I hope the lessons are helpful to you!

    Adam
I often (by accident) hit both the A and E strings when hammering down on the 5th fret on the A- to sound the D note. So keeping in mind what you have mentioned in terms of simplifying things, I have been pulling off from the E note (2nd fret on the D string) to sound the open D note whilst hitting the base E string (snare type note).

Any feedback mate – cheers Nick Melbourne – Australia

Thanks for the tasteful presentation. In the video you casually mention that the action on your guitar is ‘low’ and that detail caught my attention. I wonder what gauge strings you use? Also, what is the action of your guitar like at the 12th fret? If you have the time to take a measurement I would really appreciate it.
I am coming back to the guitar after some years away and although I have recently had my guitar ‘serviced,’ (much needed refret and an a new nut) I am finding that the guitar is physically more difficult to play (than I recall). I’m talking, for example, about the effort required to form barre chords at the first fret. I thought I might impose on you for this information. Thanks!

This is an awesome lesson! Obviously the technical lessons, tabs and so on, are the main things I was looking for, but a lesson like this, where you’re talking about the practical aspects of performing, is great to see. I’d like to think that I can get to the point where I can perform at least at some level, even if it’s only at an open mic, and little details like this can make a big difference.
